The Kalsee Ecolodge is a new accommodation in the Annapurna region, near the town of Pokhara. The village of Lumle is principally a Gurung community of Western Nepal. Some people in the village work for the army; others are mostly farmers and usually Buddhists. Many people move away to Katmandu or Pokhara, leaving several empty houses and fallow lands.
The place is now composed of 3 rustic-styled cottages and 20 tents. A common kitchen made with local materials makes it possible to socialize with other people on the site. The main advantage of the place is the breathtaking view of the Annapurna Mountains: you can see them kiss the sky at more than 7000 metres, only from your balcony!
The Kalsee Ecolodge can be a good starting point for the Annapurna trek. Indeed, several treks can be made during the day. The village of “Australian Camp” is a good one-day hike; otherwise a Hindu temple is about minutes away.
The aim of Kalsee Ecolodge is to revitalize the village and bring sustainable and responsible tourism in this region, less visited than the Annapurna, a very popular circuit in Nepal. It encourages local purchases and economic development in the village by employing the inhabitants of the village while adopting an eco-friendly approach.
